Hark - hear the hailings
of the young ones call out
Oh Captain My Captain
they all shout out
in a world beset with behemoths
which harbour will not push out
Hark hear the hailings
of the young ones call out
Carried across gale and wave
their fear rings out
Across tide and time
Hope reaches out
Oh Captain, I am my Captain
of my ship as I sail out
Throughout our lives, we are faced with numerous uncertainties and challenges during which we are tasked with confronting ourselves and making different and often difficult choices and decisions. The consequences and effects of some are often felt immediately but most are understood as we become older with experience and knowledge broadening our understanding of reality and the complexities of modern human life.
Throughout our lives, we often find ourselves asking whether we made the right, correct or best decision as we steer through the murky waters of life. The Ship of Destiny is a challenge, an invitation and an encouragement to reflect on your past and present path, and to imagine what futures you could steer the ship towards. What choices and decisions have you made towards what direction and is that the direction you imagine for yourself? What other directions are there to explore? And what are possible outcomes if you changed or maintained your course?
