In this project I posit the question: what if photographic histories were dynamic and lively and rather than stopping time, photographs can be used to speed up and pause time? I wanted to ask whether photographs do not stop or arrest time, but instead consists of layered deposits of time. Each viewing and use of a photograph is an additional layer that is added on to previous layers.

The images are the results of a photographic experiment that began during the Experimental Studio-course I participated in as part of my Master of Arts-degree in Photography at Aalto University, School of Arts, Design and Architecture. I originally set out to construct and photograph miniatures that would look highly realistic, as though I had originally photographed a rundown and dilapidated landscape or setting. The idea of reconstructing photographs from the history of contemporary photography emerged over time. In the end, I help the same core idea but wanted to produce miniatures and photographs based on something already existing but I also wanted to appropriate the aesthetic and formal qualities of the original prints using modern printing processes. Additionally, I wanted to transport the diorama back into the three-dimensional space by created 3D models using photogrammetry scanning, courtesy of the PhotoRobot at Aalto University.
