Lines in the Land explores the dynamic between human settlement and natural environments by observing structural barriers along the Torduff Reservoir Circular, a walking path that cuts through the Sanctuary Wood in the Pentland Hills Regional Park outside of Edinburgh, Scotland.
The Pentland Hills have been settled throughout millennia, with archaeological findings suggesting human settlement before AD 79.
The Hills have been used in a variety of purpose, including sheep grazing, crop farming, bird hunting and other recreation. The area also contains nine reservoirs, providing water to nearby areas as well as fishing.
Drawing inspiration from works by walkings artists, such as Richard Long, the series was photographed on location during walks and contains in its entirety nearly 100 observations, which has been edited to the final series seen here.
