Continuum is a multimedia installation that combines painting, handcrafting, archival photographs, hybrid imagery, historical and contemporary viewing apparatus and extracts from my personal archives. As a practicing scholar of photography and visual culture, I am fascinated by the potential uses of photography in the future. Each piece in Continuum thus presents a new step and additional element in photography’s long lineage and when viewed in its totality, the body of work creates a familial archive of constituents playing into and off each other, providing a tool-shed for talking about photography’s past, present and future. The work also explores the influences that have shaped how I see photography as part of a vibrant visual culture and how I seek to find my place as part of this dynamic and lively lineage.
